Address: Camden, London, NW1
Client: Southwark Council
Project Value: £3,200,000
Project Started: 23.08.2004
Contract Period: 54 weeks
This project transformed an area of waste land into a vibrant, outdoor play and activity centre for the local community. After a period of extensive ground works and site preparation, we began constructing the offices of the local social outreach workers, and an indoor leisure centre including a 30’ climbing wall and activity rooms. The entire structure was buried beneath a landscaped hill that supports the slide visible in the picture above.
The 5 acre site contains a wide range of facilities which includes a toddler’s play area, a floodlit 5 aside football pitch, adventure areas and landscaped picnic areas.
Close attention was paid to the landscaping and choice of plants, creating a low maintenance and practical community area.
